Urban water
Punarbharan Foundation carries out water-use audits in large housing societies. Water meters are not installed at apartment-level in the PMC part of Pune city. As a result, housing clusters already grappling with water shortages are unable to identify a few high-use consumers. We recommend retrofitting of water-meters, but this is mostly unaffordable and not feasible due to poor design of down-pipes. Housing societies are then encouraged to install water-saving aerator nozzles on multiple taps in every apartment. (read more)
Aquifers & communities
Our main objective is groundwater advocacy through building awareness among communities. When geographically adjoining user groups realise that they are geologically tied to the same aquifers, they develop a sense of oneness among them.
Educational events
We conduct educational sessions covering conservation of water and rainwater harvesting. We also carry out interactive programs for demystifying groundwater addressing urban audiences, school/college students, RWAs and housing societies.
